letter from Ljubljana

Ljublijana, like so many old European cities, is full of charm. The combination of viewing the river whilst listening to church bells defines tranquility.

In places like this, it's hard not to think back to the days of Communism, and wonder what it was like to live under the many restrictions of such a régime.  Fortunately, Slovenia's breaking away was comparatively easy, compared to that of other countries/provinces.

The weather is sunny and around the late 20's, provoking a regular desire to find a pavement café for a refreshing drink and another episode of soaking up the ambience.  There's a frisson of autumn, always poignant.
