Today's news is that Daughters of the Lake is finally available on paperback from Amazon. And what a sharp learning curve the process has been. It's all very well having a nicely typed and formatted Word Doc, but much can happen during the process of it becoming a CreateSpace compatible document as I have recently learned.
My long-suffering computer-literate partner and I have spent many a stressed hour on the sofa, laptops open, trying to outwit the gremlins at play, the ones who take delight in removing hitherto compliant indents, line spaces, section breaks, etc. Yes, there are instructions about how to do it, but not quite good enough. At the point of admitting defeat, we received a piece of advice, worth at least several nuggets of gold, not least in saving a fraught relationship.... "Try Fiverr". 
Fiverr, bless them, is a website offering the services of people who understand formatting and will format your manuscript for Kindle, CreateSpace and doubtless other things. People will format your cover to make it compatible for uploading so that the image still looks attractive and the spine is the correct size. What is amazing is that Fiverr, as its name suggests, charges, on average, five dollars per piece of work. I have yet to work out how those wonderful people make a living, but, hey ho. They worked on my manuscript, they worked on my cover.
My partner can now greet me with a lightness borne of knowing that there won't be IT requests made of him. He doesn't have to dash out on urgent business when I step through the door of an evening. All that's left for me to do now, is the promotion. Another story, for another day.
