Don't you just love it when your children tell you what to do? This evening I was despatched to the kitchen by my son, to prepare what we have described since his early childhood as a 'second chance' - the bedtime snack. Tonight's instructions were: cornflakes, with milk, 10 grapes and 8 raisins. I agreed to do this for two reasons. Firstly, within a 24 hour period he had tidied his room and done the dinner dishes. Secondly, there was something about the prescriptive amounts of fruit that tugged at my heartstrings.
Being the analytical type, of course, I did wonder why he'd decided on 10 grapes and 8 raisins and if he'd notice if I made it 9 and 11 respectively.
