cycling and computing

On May 1 in France, there's a custom of giving sprays of lily of the valley. We knew nothing of this our first year there so it was a pleasant surprise when our delightful, totally non-English speaking French neighbours appeared at our cottage door with a sprig of sweetly smelling flowers.

We have no such custom in the UK but yesterday, May 1, we drove up to Loch Voil to cycle. The weather was perfect, warm enough to be cycling in t-shirts, with sunshine bringing out the colours of loch, mountains, gorse and apple blossom. We ended up in the early evening having a picnic on the shores of the loch.

As our son has his standard grade computing exam this week, I spent a respectable part of the drive there testing him from past SQA papers, so our time was well spent.

No Scot takes a lovely spring day ( or even a summer one) for granted. More a bonus...

Appreciatively yours

Jane
